What does CBD oil stand for
CBD is short for cannabidiol, and is one of over 100 different cannabinoids that can be extracted from the Cannabis Sativa plant. Mammals and plants alike produce natural cannabinoids, as these are used to activate the endocannabinoid system that we all have inside of us, that is responsible for regulation of many bodily functions.
The type of cannabinoids that plants produce is called phytocannabinoids, while the one produced by mammals is called endocannabinoids. There’s no real difference in their structure, but unlike humans, the plants can create CBD much faster as a direct reaction on their environment and needs. This makes plants such as hemp, nettle and hops good sources of CBD, when our own bodies can’t keep up in the production.
Which CBD oil is best
There are plenty of oils out on the market at the moment, all claiming this and that as to why they would be the best oil to buy. The general consensus that most stick to however, ourselves included, is that the CBD oil that shows best results is the one labeled as “Full-spectrum” oil.
In a true full-spectrum oil, all the components of the hemp plant atr kept, all of the cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, amino acids and fatty acids. It is in liaison with all of the other ingredients that CBD can truly show its potency, as that is when the most efficient entourage effect is seen.
CBD oils made of only CBD isolate or concentrate can’t be counted as full-spectrum, as they are usually lacking in anything besides CBD.
How much CBD oil should I take
As we are all built differently, there is no exact amount prescribed that you must keep to when using CBD oil. It all boils down to what makes you, personally, feel best, and the best way to figure that out is through trial and error.
The easiest way is to start with a low dosage, and then work your way up. Take one drop the first day in the morning and evening, and then increase with one drop until you feel like you’ve found the perfect amount. That can be anything from 2 drops/day to 35 drops/day. There have been cases where people have been able to decrease their intake of CBD as well, as their bodies have gotten used to it and no longer required as much, so pay attention to how your body is behaving. Also be aware to not go overboard with the drops, because that is both a waste of product and can in some cases even lead to reversed effects. If you start to feel more tired than usual, that might be an indication that you should lower your dose.
